The highly trained and experienced team in the leisure centre at Clayton Hotel Galway are led by leisure centre Manager, Clare Gohery. The team are always on hand to assist in any way possible. With the safety of their guests of paramount importance, the team are continuously upskilling and undergoing all relevant training programmes.
The leisure centre team consists of a number of trained, experienced and highly qualified members, all of whom have worked in the leisure industry for a number of years.
A Galway native, Clare’s interest in health and fitness began many years ago. She always enjoyed swimming, and quickly pursued her dream and completed the course to become a qualified lifeguard. Shortly after this she got a job as a lifeguard in a city centre pool. Here she was very quickly promoted to the position of manager where she remained for 17 years. She really built the business and her experience is profound. Throughout those years she completed received an Aqua ITEC qualification and commenced a series of classes including swimming and aqua. Following on from this she gained another invaluable 5 years of experience in a leisure centre in Ballinasloe with 1600 members. Since 2012 Clare has been using her years of experience to build the leisure business at Clayton Hotel Galway. She continues to upskill and complete as many courses as possible with a particular emphasis on safety. In addition to swimming and aqua qualifications, she has also attained certification as a gym instructor and personal trainer.
Alan is also a Galway native is very interested in pursuing a career in the leisure sector. He is a qualified swim teacher and a qualified life guard. With a variety of other qualifications under his belt, Alan is a qualified emergency responder, and is qualified in occupational first aid. In the past, he has also completed courses in manual handling. He enjoys teaching swimming classes, and like the rest of the experienced team, he has a profound focus on water safety.
Originally from Zabre in Poland, Karolina she is busy mother of two small children. She commenced working in Clayton Hotel Galway in mid 2013. She qualified as a lifeguard in December 2011. With an inherent interest in health, fitness and general healthy eating, this was an obvious career path for Karolina. She envisages herself progressing on to being a swimming teacher in the future, and enjoys the balance between work and being a mother to two small children.
The leisure centre at Clayton Hotel Galway offer residents of the hotel complimentary access to the leisure facilities including a 20m pool, a poolside sauna and steamroom, and a compact fitness suite. Pool membership options are also available for non-residents, as are a number of group and private swimming lessons for both adults and children. Available classes also include aquafit and water babies.
