The layout of the pool ensures it is perfect for all of the family to enjoy a quick splash during a break away. With an all-around depth of 1.2 metres, it is the perfect swimming pool for complete beginners or nervous swimmers, as they can always keep their feet on the ground. However, the lanes also ensure that it is conducive for the avid lane swimmer looking to develop and improve their techniques.
The swimming pool is open Monday to Friday from 7am–11am and 3pm–9pm inclusive and 8am–9pm during the weekends in the winter months. Times vary during midterm and the summer season. Clayton Hotel Galway welcomes children to our leisure centre. Children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult in the pool at all times. Children aged 9 to 10 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must remain in view of the child in the pool. Children aged 11 years and upwards may be unaccompanied. Children are welcome in the pool up and until 7pm each evening.
In addition to the swimming pool, adults can enjoy access to the poolside sauna and steam room during their session. The sauna which is newly refurbished is perfect for relaxing and ridding the body of aches and pains. The steam room allows heat into the muscles after a workout and assists in releasing toxins.
The leisure centre at Clayton hotel Galway is managed by Clare Gohery. Clare was born and raised in Galway and has always had a keen interest in health and fitness. Clare has been working in the leisure industry for over 25 years. She is a highly trained swim teacher and lifeguard, as well as being a qualified gym & fitness instructor and a personal trainer.
As a White Flag of Excellence Diamond award winning leisure centre, Clare and her highly qualified team are always on hand to ensure the full safety of guests while at the leisure centre. Continuous training and upskilling to ensure the highest standard of service and best guest experience are a primary focus in the leisure centre.
The pool team consist of a number of highly trained, and competent individuals who are all qualified and experienced lifeguards, and many of whom are certified swim teachers also.

There are a range of pool classes available for all ages, including aqua aerobics classes, group swimming lessons for both adults and children and one-to-one adult and children swimming lessons. The depth of the pool at 1.2 metres is extremely conducive for classes. It helps to set beginners or nervous swimmers minds to rest. Classes include:

There are a range of membership options available for three, six and nine months. In addition to this, there are various discounted packages available for golden years, couples, youth and family membership packages. All are available upon request. All packages include access to the sauna and steam room at Clayton Hotel Galway. Members can also avail of complimentary car parking.
